Every year I do a couple of Survivor Pools which are a lot of fun.
Most of the time I do well. Last year was horrible as for some crazy reason I picked the Browns in week 1.
Looking to redeem myself this year and will share my picks with some logic in this thread.
There's plenty of options this week as fading rookie QB's in their first career starts is always a highly profitable scenario (PHI, NOS, CHI, ARZ), but I like Houston the best. Sure it's the team with the highest spread this weekend but I feel that they're also the ones facing the weakest out of all the rookie QB's. Yes, I think Weeden is better right now. The second and more important reason for taking them is that this might be the last time in quite a while before I feel comfortable selecting this team. Next week they're traveling to Jacksonville, which is a divisional game for one, and also I'm not a big fan of taking road teams in Survivor Pools until I have to (later on in the year if still alive). Houston's schedule is brutal to start out the year: MIA, @ JAX, @ DEN, TEN, @ NYJ, GB, BAL, BUF, @ CHI. The next fairly 'easy' play on them is probably week 11 when Jacksonville comes to town. Waiting that long to take a team that I think will decline a bit this year is not a good strategy. I'll grab Houston now, against what I feel will be the weakest team in the NFL.
